Private Consultations: prenatal and postpartum with an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
Breastfeeding at Full Circle features a team of experienced professionals who are available to meet with you and your baby any day of the week. The lactation specialists are able to assess your baby’s latch, offer suggestions or practical tools and coordinate care for more
specific needs such as low supply, engorgement, special needs or specific circumstances. Other practitioners might also need to be involved, in which case the lactation specialist would be able to communicate with them whenever necessary.
Prenatal consultations are recommended in order to prepare for special circumstances. While it is difficult to determine which, if any, complications will arise, there are specific circumstances that will benefit from the expertise and support of a certified lactation consultant. Some of these circumstances may include: a complicated pregnancy, risk of preterm delivery, maternal illness, maternal history of breast reduction, flat or inverted nipples, multiple births, cesarean births, or a history of breastfeeding difficulties. For many women, having support from a trained professional early on can help ensure breastfeeding success.
Postpartum consultations offer compassionate, expert guidance to ensure a satisfying breastfeeding experience. Support from our lactation consultant in the first days and weeks following birth can help resolve common early challenges of breastfeeding.
If you have pain at any time during or after nursing your baby, or if your baby is having trouble with feeding (frequency, sleepiness or fussiness) you should make an appointment with one of our team members. The observation of the breastfeeding pair is an important step toward making a plan of action. Also, asking the mother many questions will add information to the decisions. Breastfeeding at Full Circle specialists are here to help you
reach your goals regarding breastfeeding.
Also keep in mind that the earlier you seek help, the better the outcome. If
you are feeling uncertain about what to do and something isn’t working well,
make an appointment with one of the lactation specialists sooner than later.
